Environmental Remediation - Environmental remediation means to remove, counteract, or rectify an environmental condition. Techniques for accomplishing environmental remediation vary depending upon the exact situation, type of contaminant and host material, total volume of contaminated material, moisture content, and intended end usage of contaminated area. Techniques may include earthmoving, chemical additives, biochemical processes, barrier and/or containment construction, demolition, solidification/ stabilization, etc. When successful remediation is achieved, the area can often be returned to beneficial use.
