Former Landfill NPL Site
ENTACT completed construction of a 30-acre RCRA compliant
capping system at this former municipal and industrial
waste landfill. Site activities included excavation and
placement of 15,000 cubic yards of VOC impacted soils;
excavation, drying, and placement of 15,000 cubic yards
of basin sediments; installation of 1,000,000 square
feet of GeoSynthetic Clay Liner (GCL), High Density Polyethylene
(HDPE) and drainage composite; installation of RCRA compliant
capping system; management of 300,000 gallons of landfill
leachate, installation of a gas vent system and upgraded
leachate collection system; modification of the existing
stormwater detention and discharge system; and site restoration
including revegetation of the restored landfill cap. |
Facility Landfill Closure Project
Scope of work includes clearing and grubbing; borrow area preparation and excavation;
landfill regrading; geosynthetics installation; installation of a 21.2-acre,
2-foot soil cap with a vegetative cover; construction of an access roadway
and pavement, and riprap ditches and gabions; removal of sediments from a sedimentation
basin and construction of a permanent detention basin structure; and site restoration
and seeding. |
| Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL) – A geosynthetic clay liner is a layer of processed clay (typically bentonite) either bonded to a geomembrane of fixed between two sheets of geotextile. Overall GCL configuration, clay quality, clay quantity per unit area, and uniformity, are primary drivers of performance. |
